Dave and Katie welcome you to our Henrietta Street cottage.
Here we try and provide some information to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable.
Firstly – if you have any problems during your stay, and need to get hold of us – you can email 6henriettastreet@gmail.com or call us 07950232411 (Dave) or 07917756458 (Katie).
Parking – Please see our “Guide to parking in Whitby.”
Arrival/ Departure – We ask that guests arrive no earlier than 3PM, and leave by 10AM on the day of departure. If there are exceptional circumstances, contact us as we may be able to offer some flexibility.
Keys – We have a shared entrance hallway with 6a, which is open from the road. There is a key safe next to our door. We will contact you the week of your arrival and give you an updated code for the key safe. Once you are inside the cottage, there will be a 2nd set of keys on the dining room table in the fruit bowl. Please return both sets of keys to their original location at the end of your stay.
WIFI – We have provided free unlimited fibre optic WIFI for our guests use. The network is called TALKTALKA8E0F4, and the password is TRC4HMBU. There is a card with this information next to the living room speaker. Please leave this card where it is for future guests.
Bed Linen/ Towels – We provide bed linen and towels for all guests. On departure, please strip all beds and leave towels and used bed linen at the end of each bed.
Children - Our children love coming to Whitby, and if you are bringing children we want them to be safe. The cottage is old and characterful, and as such the stairs are quite steep. Please let us know in advance if you require any of the following: childs toilet seat, footstool, potty, high chair, travel cot, stair gates X 2 or bed guard. There is also a small selection of children’s cups, plates and cutlery.
Smoking - The cottage is a non smoking family home, there is a ground floor decked area, and raised decking outside for your use if you are a smoker.
Garden - There is a ground floor decking, and raised decking area with table and chairs and BBQ. Please use the BBQ, steps and raised decking at your own risk as they are quite steep and can be slippery when wet. If you have used the BBQ - please leave it in a reasonable condition for future guests. The garden outhouse had a washer drier inside that you are free to use.
Books/ Games/ Toys - We have provided a small number of books, games, children's toys and a samsung tablet for your use. The tablet is stored with the books, please return it here after using it. These are family possessions so please treat them with care.
Music - We have provided 2 Sonos WIFI speakers (1 in the kitchen, 1 in the living room). You can connect to them by downloading an app to your own phone/ tablet, or using the Samsung tablet that we provide at the cottage. There is a guide to using the Sonos speakers here. The Sonos speakers are linked to a dedicated Spotify account, so you should be able to listen to anything that interests you! We have set up playlists that reflect our own taste in music across the decades, but why not set up your own playlists to enjoy during your stay, and to share with other guests.
Smart TV - We have provided a smart tv with dedicated Netflix account. There is a manual for the TV/ Netflix here. If the TV fails to connect to the WIFI, unplug the TV and plug it back in and turn the TV on and it will reconnect.
Living room lamps - We have 3 lamps in the living/ dining room. As the sockets and lamps aren't easily accessible - they are remote controlled. The controller is small, white and has 3 buttons to turn each light on/ off. Please leave the remote next to the living room sonos speaker.
Central heating - There is a thermostat in the living room that is on a timer. If you want to adjust the heating, use the thermostat, or press “extra hour” to make the heating come on for longer. Please return the thermostat to 18 upon your departure.
Recycling/ Waste - Please see our “Recycling/ Waste document”. It is vital for your enjoyment and those staying after you that this guidance is strictly adhered to.
Kitchen Appliances - The cottage has a dishwasher, and washing machine, and we provide supplies of tablets. In the Kitchen there is a fridge freezer, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, gas hob, fan oven, and combi oven with microwave. The manual for the oven is provided, and is well worth familiarising yourself with!
Breakages - Things get broken, we would much rather know about any damage so that we can get replacements before for the next guests arrival.
Things to do, places to eat and drink - Please see our “things to do” page.
Feedback - We really appreciate your feedback. Please let us know what you enjoyed, and what we could do to make a future stay more enjoyable.
